Apex has been home to our practice since 2002. Dr. John Kitzmiller III, who most people just call Dr. Kitz, opened the doors here. More than twenty years later, this is still the town we live in and care about.
Good dentistry is only part of what makes a place feel like home. The coffee shop that knows your order. The swim team that fills the pool with kids all summer. We wanted a spot on our site to point you toward a few local favorites we actually enjoy.

Peak City Coffee
Peak City Coffee roasts specialty coffee in small batches right here in Apex. Dr. Kitz is a fan. If you have ever asked him where to grab a good cup nearby, you have probably heard the name already.
Their beans turn up at local shops, cafés, and markets around the Triangle, and you can catch the roasters in person at the Apex Farmers’ Market. The House Blend is the easy crowd-pleaser. If you take your coffee bolder, Full Steam has its own loyal following. They rotate seasonal roasts through the year too, so there is usually something new on the shelf.

Abbington Alligators Swim Team
The Abbington Alligators are a neighborhood summer swim team based in the Abbington subdivision. They started in 1999 with about 50 swimmers. Today the roster runs past 200, competing in the Tarheel Swim Association.
We are proud to sponsor the team. What we like most is how they run it. The older kids compete hard, and the Junior Gator program gives the youngest swimmers a patient, safe way to learn their strokes and get comfortable in the water. Coaches work one on one with beginners, so nobody gets left at the wall.
